The hairpins of l'Alpe d'Huez

Start: Bourg d'Oisans (720m).

Road:

The slope is quite regular during all the climb. The road is a succession of 21 hairpin turns numbered 1 to 21 from the top. This climb has become famous after the Tour de france has begun to use it. In general, the climb is placed after a long race of 200km with some hard passes (you find a lot of in the region: Galibier, Croix de Fer, Glandon which are the hardest). When starting from Bourg d'Oisans, you lose such an epic aspect of the climb. Anyway, l'Alpe d'Huez must be considered as an interesting climb and not to be under-estimated. The road is very wide and the surface is perfect.
