Road:

Chamrousse is a ski resort that is completely lifeless in summer, as for Alpe d'Huez or Risoul. But it also has the advantage to have one (and even two) access road perfectly surfaced. The passage of the Tour de France in 2001 has also helped to get a better road. The climb is very regular, with a lot of hairpins, and almost from the start in the forest up to the summit.
